About Mastering Media
Mastering Media was set up in 2010 by respected mastering engineer,
Blu-ray and DVD author Ian Shepherd to specialise in High Definition audio services, Blu-ray and DVD authoring.
We have authored DVD, Blu-ray and CD-ROM projects across a wide range of the corporate and public sectors, and with over fifteen years of experience Ian has worked on literally thousands of CD, DVD and Blu-ray projects for all of the major record labels, TV stations and independents, including several number one singles and award-winning albums.
Clients include Bloomsbury, Samsung, the BBC, Cambridge University, KScope Records, 7th Art Productions, WYSIWYG Films, Fact Not Fiction Films and many more.
Musical credits include: Keane, Tricky, Simon Rattle & the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Deep Purple, The Orb, Leslie Garret, Culture Club, Porcupine Tree, Andy Weatherall, The Las, Ozric Tentacles, Christine Tobin, New Order and King Crimson amongst many others.
Ian also runs the popular Production Advice website, aimed at helping people get the best out of their music, recording and mixing. He is well-known for his criticism of excessively loud CDs like Metallica’s “Death Magnetic” and for taking a leading role in the fierce debate over the so-called “Loudness Wars“. In 2010 Ian organised the first Dynamic Range Day – a day of online protest and awareness-raising about the issue.
